How To Install Kitchen Cabinets – The Fundamentals
In this post, we discuss the basic fundamentals that you need to know about when installing/hanging Kitchen Cabinets. Regardless of how handy you are in the tool shed, skipping over the fundamentals of installing cabinets could cost you a lot of time.

1.Remove Cabinet Doors
If you’ve ordered assembled kitchen cabinets, like we always recommend, the first thing you should do is remove the doors. Why? … Well, it turns out you’ll need as many gripping points as possible. Not to mention, unsecured doors we’ll be sure to leave a mark when they swing your way. The main reason is really gripping, actually two aspects of it, one… lifting the cabinets without the doors will be much easier, and two, you’ll need to clamp the Kitchen Cabinets together for most of the installation process while you drive in the supporting screws.

2 Install The Upper Cabinets First
This will sound obvious to the pros but it’s definitely one of the biggest mistakes on the DIY front. Installing the upper kitchen cabinets first is really a question of basic physics. It’s easier to install the upper cabinets when you have the room directly below to stand on. Also, you are more likely to nick or scratch your base cabinets if you install them first. To save yourself A LOT of hussle, install your Kitchen Cabinets from top to bottom.

3. Measurements And Alignment

It’s imperative that you make sure each cabinet you install is level and square with all chalk lines and or measuring marks. Take the extra time to align each cabinet correctly before driving the screws in. Every little adjustment you don’t make will be pushed on to the next cabinet and will lead to a major problem as you approach completion. For the base cabinets, improper leveling could cause your countertop to warp or even crack (granite). Take your time, remember, your handy work will last a long time.
